Former consumer electronics buyer, Frank Fotia, highlights the major technology breakthroughs made at CES and reviews what makes the show so valuable.

For over 40 years, The International CES has served as the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Held in Las Vegas every year, CES has built a reputation as a birthplace for innovators and breakthrough technologies. Since CES is owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the technology trade association representing the $203 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry, it attracts the world’s business leaders to a forum addressing the industry’s most relevant issues.

CES holds over 152,000 attendees from more than 150 countries and showcases about 3,200 exhibitors, including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems, etc. The show also offers a conference program with over 300 sessions. The International CES features products—and the companies that create them—from 15 consumer technology markets.

CES first landed in New York City in June of 1967. Since then, thousands of products have been announced at the annual show, including many that have revolutionized not only the way we live, but also the way we do business:
