360pi to Present Holiday 2014 Pricing Tactics and Strategies at NRF 2015 BIG !deas Session

OTTAWA – Canada – January 8, 2015 — 360pi, the leading provider of retail price intelligence, today announced that Jenn Markey, VP of Marketing, will present a BIG !deas Session on observed holiday pricing practices and trends at the 2015 National Retail Federation (NRF) Conference and Expo, January 12 at 4:15 p.m. in BIG !deas Room 2 in the Level 1 Expo Hall at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City.

The session, titled Amazon’s Holiday Pricing Tactics and Strategies Revealed, will provide NRF participants with an in-depth review of Amazon’s Holiday pricing practices relative to other major retailers including Walmart and Target as observed by 360pi. The company will also highlight observed shifts in holiday pricing behavior between 2013 and 2014. Holiday pricing trends in 2014, as reported by 360pi, include:

  • Longer, but lower discounts reduced holiday shopping frenzy on key dates.
  • Overall, there was less online price volatility and a “follow-the-leader” pricing mentality across retailers.
  • Different retailer tactics and strategies included “availability price games”, differing levels of dynamic pricing, and a large spread in the best day to shop from a price perspective.
  • Walmart continued to challenge Amazon on price during the 2014 holiday shopping season.
